Although I had photographed McKay's back in the late 80's had wanted for years to get much improved images.
Each time visually seeing them was never any closer to one to obtain something of photographic value.  BUT in
2011, purchased tickets to Nome, Alaska to try yet again for closer shots.  But ended up not getting past Anchorage
as the rental cars and lodging were unavailable due to freezing temps shutting down much of Nome.
Flew as far as Anchorage and tried for some more yet distant shots out on the Kenai.
So in 2012 tried again, and finally success!  Still not super close as McKay's are
really skittish.   A photo bird doesn't always come easy.
